Why Is My Schnauzer Changing Colors? One thing that most miniature schnauzers owners will notice over time is that their schnauzers changes color. Miniature schnauzers genetically often carry a "FADING" gene. This fading gene is genetically in charge of the fading of their coat color.
So your black puppy will most likely fad to a medium gray to dark silver coat color. This may happen slowly or rapidly. There is not way of telling how long it will take for your mini to fade. A schnauzer's coat can change over time for multiple reasons additional to their genetics. This includes aging, health and diet, grooming (clipping), and hair loss/regrowth. When will my puppy's coat fade? Miniature schnauzers fading can occur rapidly or slowly. There is no way to tell how long this process will take. Some may change in color from early as a few weeks old while some will take many years. Fading has a great variation. |
